Skin problems

Skin problems occur because of genetic factors, environmental exposures or inappropriate nutrition. Regardless of age, many people have a skin problem, ranging from the teenage typical acne to the so incredibly undesired age spots or painful sun burns.
Some of the most common skin problems are:

Acne

Some teenagers suffer from this facial skin problem called acne. Because acne affects the face, it can become a troubling skin problem that can affect one?s self-confidence. Acne occurs because of sebaceous glands that become overactive and produce an excessive amount of oil, thus blocking the pores and not allowing the skin to breathe properly. As a result blackheads and whiteheads appear. Quite often, however, these become inflamed, resulting in pimples and nodules. Severe acne leaves scars.

Wrinkles

Ageing skin problems have generated a multi-billion Dollar industry and this is because of our wish to defy time for as long as we possibly can. Wrinkles affect both men and women. They tend to appear in those places where the skin folds naturally. As time goes by they become deeper and more difficult to hide. An unhealthy diet, drinking and/or smoking, as well as sun exposure all contribute to make skin look older than it really is.

Birth Marks

Most babies are born with small areas of pigmented skin. If they are not present at birth, these skin pigmentations might appear shortly after. Birth marks are quite unique, because they have different colors and shapes. From a medical point of view, birth marks can be categorized as either pigmented or vascular. Birth marks are usually permanent, but there have been cases of temporary ones. Birth marks are harmless.

Moles

Round, dark spots on a person?s skin are called moles and they represent another common skin problem. Usually, moles are harmless. There are, however, some things one should look out for when thinking about moles. If their coloring is uneven and they are larger than the tip of a small finger, they could develop into skin cancer. However, these cases are quite rare. Moles can be removed with no further complications.

These are just four of the most common non-serious skin problems people have. It?s skin that brings the human body in contact with its surrounding environment. Skin problems may appear and then disappear with no further consequences, but if a more serious condition is suspected, seeking medical attention is the right thing to do.
